When trying to understand Dissociative Identity Disorder, once known as Multiple Personality Disorder, I find it best to go to someone who has suffered the affliction, but in such a way that they were able to persevere through their life regardless.  deJoly LaBrier’s book All Together Now: A Multiple’s Story of Hope and Healing   is such a read.

Not much for poetry and pictures generally, I nonetheless found Ms. LaBrier’s book fascinating, and her poetry and prose  to be straight forward and understandable.  The tale of her life is harsh, and there are some parts of her book that are hard to get through emotionally, as she touches the deepest part of her readers with the pain surrounding  her childhood and the beauty of her perseverance.  Mixed with amazing art and pictures, All Together Now is written in such a way that is visually stunning while written in a manner that explains both Ms. LeBrier’s  struggle with DID and dealing with her past that is both informative, and (dare I say it?)- Entertaining.  Detailing exactly what DID is- she eloquently lays bare her soul while detailing her personal struggle with the disorder.

There has been quite a bit of mention in the news lately about DID and its validity as a psychiatric condition, and Debbie Nathan’s novel Sybil Exposed has been given extensive attention.  However, the main difference between Nathan’s book and LaBrier’s life story is that Sybil is dead, while LaBrier is alive and actively reaching out to other survivors while trying to educate the public on a condition that is often misunderstood and dismissed.  Here to defend herself and her life, unlike Sybil- who is dead as is everyone who was involved with her, I have found All Together Now to be an invaluable addition to the survivor movement and I applaud Ms LaBrier  not only for  her honesty, but also for the articulate manner in which she presents herself.  All Together Now is an educational read while being fun at the same time, despite the topic and the abuse that she suffered as a child.  It is a must read for those who are interested in DID from a personal perspective.

Recently, the whole concept of DID and its validity as a diagnosis has come under fire under the scope of the media.  Debbie Nathan’s book Sybil Exposed has been highly publicized and has quite a few reviews, both good and bad  on Amazon  and this past Valentine’s day, Melissa Healy for the Los Angeles Times suggested in her article “Maybe Sybil just needed a good night’s sleep”.  This was the day after the Association for Psychological Science sent out a press release that fragmented sleep fragments the mind- and calling it a new theory on sleep disruption and dissociation.  Of course, any over worked new parent can tell you that losing sleep can make one dopey, however- interestingly enough, I don’t know of any case where DID was diagnosed after a birth.

It is strange, because many people don’t even remember who Sybil is, and yet, people such as Nathan, who is a False Memory Foundation activist that works diligently to help accused pedophiles get legal representation from  the foundation on who’s board she is a member of, purports that Sybil had this huge impact on society and psychiatry in general.  In her chapters “Contagion” and “Containment”, she goes further to suggest that Sybil is the cause of our nation’s history with satanic abuse, which was explained as a “panic” by the media when it hit in the middle 80s.  This book has been highly publicized in the national media, and I believe that it is being used as a propaganda tool to help people dismiss satanic abuse in the same way they are trying to dismiss DID.

Sybil could not have caused “satanic panic” since she never once said that she was abused in such a way.  Therefore, equating Sybil with our nation’s history is not plausible.  However, I believe this is being used as a smoke and mirrors, as DID has a definite connection to extreme abuse, and you can’t get much more extreme than satanic ritual abuse.  Working to objectify Sybil and the diagnosis of DID, the media is trying what it can to change the tide that is starting to come in concerning the number of  claims of such abuse victims, attempting to spin the situation in such a way that the general population is compelled to dismiss it without really giving it any thought.   Of course, this has been the history of all of this all along.

Although it might be egocentristic, I wonder if this sudden new focus on DID and Satanic Ritual Abuse is all due to the fact that Rabbit Hole: A Satanic Ritual Abuse Survivor’s Story comes out publically on May 8^th.  Explaining exactly what I experienced in Omaha at the time when the heart of the nation became entangled in its own problems with satanic ritual abuse (SRA), it exposes the government and the dealings of our rich here in Omaha in a way that is hard to argue.  Having publically worked on getting my family investigated for their part in a child trafficking ring for five years now, for me, this re-emergence of dismissing DID and SRA is not coincidental but rather has been instrumented as a propaganda tool just a few months before my book hits Amazon.  Taught as a child that if you “control the perception of the thing, you control the thing itself”, it is not hard for me to believe that there is a strong push to discredit our nation’s past without anyone giving it a critical look, and both Nathan’s book and Healy’s article in the LA Times shows that there is a definite interest to discredit DID such as it is understood right now.  Unable to dismiss it as a coincidence, I have to ask myself about the timing of all of this.

Nothing exists in a vacuum, and the fact that Rabbit Hole is about to hit the market is, I believe, already having an impact with the powers that be.  Detailing my experience with Satanism in Omaha, and explaining just how deeply my family was involved, I wonder if this push to associate DID with SRA and discredit the whole lot in people’s minds is an attempt to shore up the damage that Rabbit Hole is going to cause when it hits the markets.  Never having suffered from DID personally, the whole false memory propaganda won’t work with the arguments that I present, as I detail my experiences with my arguments, which essentially boil down to the fact that I believe that SRA and human trafficking are linked, and that Omaha’s true history lies heavily with the rich involved with drug, gun, and human trafficking and that history leads right up to the first Bush Whitehouse.

Also, considering that there are two conferences in California quickly coming up- one in Davis in April and the Survivorship conference in Oakland in May, I wonder if the LA Times is trying to discourage the idea of Dissociative Identify Disorder and survivors of extreme abuse right before two conferences joining survivors together take place.  Controlling the media is part of what happened in Omaha’s past, and anyone who lives in America and is even slightly aware knows that our media is still controlled today.  I am far from alone with consideration of my past abuse by our government, and I believe that those who wish to keep our nation’s past quiet will do anything and everything to keep the status quo.  Controlling the media is part of that agenda.

However, I also believe that people are brighter than they are given credit for, and if given the correct information, generally make the moral and intelligent decisions when it comes to protecting our children.  No media campaign is going to stop the population from waking up to the realities I present in Rabbit Hole, nor will it stop the change that is going to come from knowing what happened here in Omaha.  Hope and change are more than clever campaign slogans, they are real life perspectives, and I personally believe that mankind is on the verge of immense change that is going to wake us all up in a way that we won’t be able to go back to sleep.  Everything compounded with everything else, Rabbit Hole is my attempt to influence what is coming- helping people to become more aware of the government that controls us.  Completely unrelated to Sybil and DID, Rabbit Hole explains my experience with SRA and stands alone as a personal testament to what actually happened here in Omaha before the Franklin Credit Union crashed, and the true money that was made on the realities that occurred here.

My stepmother’s lawyer sent out nasty letters again today- trying to stop the book launch. I wonder if they know that there is no longer any statute of limitations on child abuse in Nebraska any more. My book launch is going on as planned- regardless of any letters sent or the weather. Kathy Bannister: Now that Joanne has tried to close down yet another book launch…and exactly why is that? Lol, let me think…. It is my opinion that we should consult an attorney. There is no statute of limitations on child abuse in the State of Nebraska. Both of us have files several inches thick documenting the abuse we suffered as children…you, in the State of Iowa mostly, and me in the State of Nebraska. I have 99% of the records, which led to my placement in a foster home. Interesting how Joanne forgets the past. Some of us remember a little too well.

Kathy Bannister: I, personally, have grown exceedingly tired of her victim act. I worked with true victims, and she is NOT one. I worked as an advocate for victims of domestic violence for 3 years (in an internship and volunteer). So, I know about this topic… She had an affair with Dad while he was still married. Her relationship with our father is mired in the ashes of his previous marriage (also easy to prove). My years living with her consisted on a lot of abuse…again, all of it well documented. I obtained hospital reports, social workers’ reports, etc long ago before they were lost or archived. Dad’s will was altered, and comparing his forged signature to sample of her writing (thanks to her pro see affidavit) again makes it obvious….just takes a graphologist to attest to the fact. Her attorney signed off on that…so, his career would also be toast. I say…GO FOR IT!!!

Kathy Bannister: If she ever actually read your book, she would realize that it is soooo much larger than her. She hardly merits mention in your book.

David Shurter: Everything is documented- I haven’t played because the fight isn’t fair- but I know that Gerry is such an idiot that he will take it to whatever level he has too in order to try and stop me- and eventually- it is all going to come out. My DNA has already been taken- and the police are HEAVILY investigating our family- so unless they think a nasty letter is going to stop that- I don’t really see what they can do. Take me to court- I have said it before and I’ll just keep saying it- this time I have a lawyer- and a strong support system in town who are ALL VERY INTERESTED IN WHAT I HAVE TO SAY!!!! So BRING IT!!!!!

Kathy Bannister: Great! So, we are all set to go to court, should that be necessary. Perhaps she will figure this out and back off. Funny
that she has forgotten all of the documentation that exists. Sometimes I think that she is so far removed from reality that she just thinks the past vanished in to thin air.

Caryn Stardancer was a pioneer in establishing a grassroots network for survivors of sadistic ritualistic abuse. She co-founded Survivorship with Catherine Raggazzi, and served at the helm of that organization for a decade. During that time Caryn wrote and spoke both nationally and internationally, served as a mentor-counselor, taught professional service providers through UC Davis Entension classes and San Francisco General Hospital Grand Rounds, and exhibited her survivorship-inspired artwork in publications, galleries and exhibitions. Deborah Tisdale is a Bay Area vocalist who began singing while growing up in Los Angeles, California. After moving to the Bay Area, she joined and sang with the East Bay Church of Religious Science Choir and has sung with the Berkeley Community Chorus. In the spring of 2008 she performed as a back-up singer for San Francisco jazz singer Paula West, and has further expanded her musical interests into jazz and pop. Rabbit Hole: A Satanic Ritual Abuse Survivor’s Story

David Shurter, author of the just published Rabbit Hole: A Satanic Ritual Abuse Survivor’s Story, a book about SRA and events that surrounded Omaha NE and his life, is concerned that we are in a modern day rabbit hole concerning the allegations that have come out in our nation lately concerning child abuse, and details his life and the events that surrounded him as a comparison to what we are seeing today in hopes to educate people thus preventing history from repeating itself. Speaking of the societal implications that the child and drug trafficking had on the people involved with it, his focus is to explore the events that surrounded a failed savings and loan and his family and their affairs in order to explain what exactly was occurring in the middle of the country when he was inducted into a cult as a child- up to his adulthood, when the cult members sought him out again. Affirming that which has been kept hidden under the guise of conspiracy theories, it is his hope to bring survivors forward in a way that we no longer have to bother with the doubt of what happened because we already know, in order to help shape the newly developing consciousness concerning our plight. Exploring his past in Omaha, he brings a new perspective to satanic ritual abuse in such a way that it can no longer be denied, and it is his hopes to share his enthusiasm for the shift that is happening and to explore the concept that people are actually waking up.

Bio: David Shurter was intimately connected to events in Omaha surrounding a failed credit union and to the elite who were involved in a drug and child trafficking ring. Having written Rabbit Hole: A Satanic Ritual Abuse Survivor’s Story, it is David’s hope to expose the SRA that occurred in his childhood.

Accessing Dissociated Mental States: Techniques, Ethics and Risk Management

This PowerPoint-assisted workshop teaches clinical skills for mental health professionals who work with survivors of extreme abuse. More specifically, we will discuss the clinical strategy that I call Accessing Dissociated Mental States (Noblitt, 1997; Noblitt & Perskin, 2000). We will review the narratives of survivors that explain how they were trained to experience trauma-mediated amnesia and dissociation of identity in response to particular triggering stimuli. We will discuss the details of how such abusive training is often done and how therapists can integrate this knowledge in their own clinical assessments and treatment planning. Included will be some of the common and more generic triggers as well as methods for discovering more idiosyncratic cues. Unfortunately many of these survivors are in therapy for years before these problems are accurately identified. Are there quicker, more efficient ways for detecting these cue-controlled behaviors and providing appropriate treatment? What are some of the common hand signals, touch methods and other programming cues? Should therapists know about these so that they can avoid those that may be harmful? On the other hand, can therapists use triggers as part of therapy to facilitate the survivor’s recover? We will consider these questions and others in the context of ethical practice and risk management. A survivor of extreme abuse will participate in the actual demonstration of specific techniques.

Bio: Randy Noblitt is Professor of Clinical Psychology at The California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University in Los Angeles, California. He is also an author and educator and has acted as consultant, expert witness, and fact witness in civil and criminal cases involving allegations of child abuse, ritual abuse, and cult affiliation.

Survivorship is one of the oldest and most respected organizations supporting survivors of extreme child abuse, including sadistic sexual abuse, ritualistic abuse, mind control, and torture.

Survivorship provides resources, healing, and community for survivors; training and education for professionals who may serve survivors; and support for survivors’ partners and other allies. The organization functions as a lifeline for survivors who may be isolated emotionally or geographically.
