Putting people in camps has historically been the Nazi way so we shouldn’t be surprised at what is happening on the border. And there is no doubt we are seeing a rise in fascism. The Neo Nazi rally planned in August across the street from the White House is a apt example of that.
Putting people in camps has always historically started small- beginning with the most disenfranchised. It has always been justified as legal and just- exactly as we are seeing now. And they have always constituted a “us vs them” mentality. Just as we are watching.
The issue with this is that appeasement has never worked with fascism. That whole adage of give an inch and they will take a mile comes to mind. It never works and it NEVER stops with one group.
These tax cuts that have recently provided more wealth for the 1% are beginning to have their effect on the common man. Harley Davidson is a good example. How many will lose their jobs- thus their income to this one situation alone? And this is in no way isolated. These tariffs that have recently been imposed are creating havoc for business owners- thus their employees. And it is exponentially getting worse. But only for us common folk.
Eventually there are going to be layoffs where more and more people will lose their jobs- thus their incomes- thus their ability to provide for themselves and their families.
Yeah- they claim there are plenty of jobs right now- but this WILL change and considering the fact that no where in the 50 states can people generally afford a two bedroom apartment- the quality of these jobs could be questioned. If they don’t adequately afford housing- what about health care? Or more importantly food?
Considering all of this- it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to realize that people are soon going to get hungry. Plenty of people are already starving but this is going to get worse. And it is known throughout history that starvation breeds desperation. And desperate people commonly do desperate things as a result.
Thus my initial focus on these camps. Our powers that be are NOT going to just willingly sit back and allow society to crumble. They are not just willingly going to sit back and allow their power to be usurped. We are seeing that now- as our leaders are complacent in allowing things to unfold in order to keep their positions of power. And that doesn’t look as it is going to change anytime soon.
Desperate people do desperate things- and starvation enacts desperation- so in order to provide order- and keep their seats of power- their only choice will be to start containing people in camps. And it will all be done under the rule of law. Laws for lawlessness sake basically.
Unfortunately we are returning back and reenacting that old poem focused on Germany during WW II:
“First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out-
Because I was not a Socialist.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out-
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out-
Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me- and there was no one left to speak for me.”
Right now it is beginning with immigrants- but it always extends out. You can try to assure yourself “NOT ME!” but at this point- unless you are one of the 1%, your safety is NOT guaranteed. And thus- it will only be a matter of time before it becomes any one of us. Or all of us.
Humanity has walked this road before- and historically one fact has always remained consistent- not one of us is insulated and thus we all should be concerned. To deny this- or ignore it- is folly and has consistently lead to bad ends.
It has begun with immigrants- but where it ends is up to us as a society. For now anyway. But with regards to the future- it is anyone’s guess.
